The No. 2 (right lane) of northbound U.S. Highway 101 will be closed at Rocks Road on Tuesday, April 18 through Thursday, April 20 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for emergency tree removal and guardrail repair.
The removal of eucalyptus trees in this corridor "will ensure the safety of all travelers," Caltrans said in a press release. This roadwork is being performed in response to damage caused by winter storms.
Electronic signs will be posted alerting motorists of the closure and the CHP will assist with traffic control. Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 30 minutes. This roadwork is being done by the Salinas Area Tree Crew.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
